Cabo San Lucas, Mexico - The Resort, Day 2
This is a great shot of the swimming pool as it literally collides with the ocean out in the horizon. The four swimmers look like they're right on the edge of the great divide.
Joanie and Vicky are walking down to the courtyard. These two girls are close friends who work in the same department. Joanie, along with Ricky below, are my two best friends at HP.
Tom is doing his greatest dorky impersonation of Tom Cruise while Joanie and Vicky are striking Cabo gang signs in the swimming pool.
Shubert is looking a lot like Russell Wong. Sorry ladies, he's married.
This is the splendid resort bar that adjoins one end of the swimming pool. The shallow pool snakes around the hotel courtyard, with clear views out to the ocean below. Instead of bar stools, there are submerged seats that allow you to order drinks while sitting in the pool or, if you so choose, standing or treading in the pool. The best part was, the water inside the pool was very warm.
A view of the private huts that line the beach front. These were a hit, so you usually needed to come early to grab one. They're great for sun bathing.
Here's a view of the huts from a different angle. You can clearly see the crescent peninsula that can be seen from the airplane.
Here's Joanie with her hair blowing in the wind as we are walking down to the beach.
Here's Vicky enjoying the sun, looking cool in her shades.
The bag you see in the lower right corner was complimentary, among many other complimentary things during our stay; it contained various useful items like sunscreens and lip balms.
Here's Ricky with his beach towel, ready for some fun in the sun.
Here's Joanie, me, and Vicky fooling around on the beach.
Ricky and Tom getting their feet wet on the soft sands of Cabo as the waves come to shore to tickle their toes 8).
Vicky chills out in one of the private huts.
Tom takes a bare-footed stroll on the rocky shores of Cabo. The rocks were a bit slippery, so I was extra careful not to fall down and break my camera (or head).
This is a view of our Hilton resort from a distance. It's interesting that as we walked further away from the hotel, the sand on the beach suddenly changed from soft (fine) to hard (coarse). If you look closely you can see exactly where the sand changed: the lighter sand close to the hotel was the soft kind and the darker sand in the foreground was the hard kind. It's almost as if Hilton ran out of premium sand and had to import a lower grade sand.
While we were on the beach, some people were out playing a morning round of golf at a beautiful course nearby.
A shot from inside the tent where the awards banquet will be held. I was intrigued by the patterns and colors projected onto the canopy by the spotlights.
The awards banquet took place in the evening. We were told to prepare 10-minute speeches, but thank goodness they were just pulling our legs.
Lobster with steak was one of the items on the menu for the banquet. Strange combination.
